In February – March 2010 Vancouver and Whistler successfully hosted Winter Olympic Games.
Vancouver is the most western city in Canada, situated next to the pacific ocean. It has breathtaking views. There are three mountains in the city, with great ski hills. Vancouver has the finest Asian cuisine outside of Asia, and rivals New York city for the kinds and quality of food available. Some of the most spectacular scenery in Canada is here, from pristine waters and bays, to huge tropical rain forests to towering mountains. Night life is also plentiful, with many 24 hour restaurants, and a vibrant art culture. Vancouver's proximity to the ocean gives it a moderate and pleasant climate year round. Average rainfall is higher than in the rest of inland provinces, and so Vancouver has a plethora of lush vegetation which can be greatly appreciated in the spring when plants are in bloom.
